Anorexia Stories

There are some very heart wrenching stories of people who have suffered from anorexia online. The stories tell of the persons life leading up to the anorexia and it is easy to see how they became anorexic. It is just a shame that people have to suffer at the hands of others by being tormented in one way or another and the results of the torment leads to destroying the health of the individual by causing them to become anorexic because they lost any self esteem they ever had. In some cases, they were mistreated from the beginning and never had a chance to build any self esteem. Some of the websites where you can find some of these stories are:

Anna Paterson

There are many other stories online you can find to read but this is a few so you can get an idea as to what spurs the people to become anorexic. It is reported that the causes of anorexia can come from several different sources. It can be from psychological, biological, and sociocultural problems. There is a lot of peer pressure for young children and some have had eating disorders at age 10 -20 years of age. There are even a few under 10 years old. The average age is 17 for anorexic victims. There is a lot of low self esteem in these children. They have been abused, mistreated, teased, you name it, some of them have seen it all. They have been knocked down so low that they do not have a good opinion of themselves. Until they begin to like themselves they can not conquer the problem. In order to conquer the anorexic problem, it needs to be diagnosed so a doctor can begin treatment. Hopefully treatment can begin before the victim suffers from a severe health issue such as a heart attack, kidney pr brain damage.

Some of the physical and emotional signs of anorexia are abnormal blood count, fatigue, thin appearance, dizziness, fainting, osteoporosis, brittle nails, dehydration, low blood pressure, cannot tolerate the cold, dry skin, constipation, absence of menstruation (in females), loss of testosterone (in males), soft hair covering the body, thinning of hair, hair breaking or falling out. Other signs are refusal to eat, excessive exercise, lack of emotion, trouble concentrating, weighing food, complaining about being fat, checking mirror for flaws, weighing themselves often, wearing baggy or layered clothing to hide the weight loss, eating low fat and low calorie foods, cutting food in tiny pieces, spitting out food after chewing it, cooking large meals for family but not eating any of it themselves, and more.
