Anorexia Thinspiration Anorexia thinspiration is a video about anorexia and other eating disorders. There are photos of anorexic victims and much more. Anorexia is one of several serious eating disorders and there are more than 8 million people who have been diagnosed with anorexia or another eating disorder. Eating disorders have become a major problem especially in the states where the culture is one of the main causes of the disorders. People are led to believe that thin is “in” and the younger generation want to belong so they want to lose weight in order to achieve that goal. They feel that the skinny people such as models, actors, actresses, and other celebrities they see on television, in magazines, and on billboards are their idols and they think they have to look like them if they are going to succeed in life. Between the pressure of the culture, peer pressure, and genetics there is a dangerous mix for potential anorexia or other eating disorders. Some people are not strong enough to fight the urge and they tend to lose too much weight as fast as they can so they can be included in society. The real answer is what’s inside of them and the importance of them feeling good about themselves no matter how much they weigh or what they look like. So they are a little over weight? So what? Why is there so much stress on being skinny? What ever happened to a healthy lifestyle instead of a skinny unhealthy one? People need to be aware of the dangers in eating disorders before they experience it, not afterwards when it may be too late for some because the damage is so extensive that the victim dies. People of all ages can have eating disorders such as anorexia. The senior citizens can even suffer from it and they may not be diagnosed and treated. The majority of anorexic victims are between the ages of 10 and 20 with the average age being 17. There are even a few victims that are under the age of 10, but it is rare. Eating disorders are present in both males and females with the majority in females. There are one male in every six anorexic victims diagnosed. There is a need to get help for the victim as soon as possible to prevent serious damage to the vital organs. All vital organs can be affected and if the damage is severe enough, not all of it can be reversed. The victims usually try to hide their problem under baggy or layered clothing and often succeed until their health begins to fail them and they have to seek medical attention.
