Diet Pills Containing Ephedra

Some of the diet pills containing ephedra may soon be changing their habits (if they haven’t already) since the ephedra is now banned in the United States. Trimspa was one weight loss pill that used to have ephedra as one of their ingredients but has now replaced it with hoodia gordonii. Hoodia gordonii has no known side effects and will suppress the appetite as well as boost your energy. It is a natural succulent which is a cactus like plant found in the Kalahari Desert in South Africa. Hoodia Gordonii is very sought after and can stand alone as a diet pill if you get the real hoodia gordoni and it is at least 250 mg. per dose. Other diet pills which contain ephedra are Metabolife, Metabolite, Xenadrine, Shape-Fast Plus, plus others. Other names for ephedra are Mormon tea, Squaw Tea, Ma Huang, Chinese Ephedra, Herbal Ecstasy, and Epitonin. If you see any of these names on labels of products you will know that it is ephedra. Ephedra is found in arid areas around the globe and this is why there are many names for it. The Chinese have used it for over 5,000 years for lung problems. However it is not known how many people had other health problems from taking the ephedra.

Ephedra was also used for an energy booster, a sports enhancer, and for medicinal purposes for asthma and bronchial tube congestion. Ephedra was banned from the United States because there were too many people suffering from serious side effects and even death from using the ephedra products. There were at least 1,000 serious illnesses plus at least 17 deaths reported to the Food and Drug Administration since 1997. That is a large number of people when you think about it. That is serious health problems, that does not account for the minor side effects suffered. The odds are just too great for the FDA not to do something to protect the people. Ephedra was banned in 2003 then the ban was lifted in 2005 but the ephedra was to be used in no more than 10 mg. doses. There were still heart attacks and strokes reported so the FDA showed the courts the proof they needed to ban the ephedra all together. Even the doses as small as 8 mg. Were causing strokes and heart attacks so something had to be done. If you have suffered any serious side effects from a product that contained ephedra you are entitled to compensation for your illness and suffering. You can talk to a lawyer in your state that will handle cases of this type. You should first contact your doctor as soon as you can if you suffered from a serious illness from the use of ephedra. You can also contact your local Health department and the FDA Consumer hotline at 800-532-4440.
