Both types were dangerous to many people’s health. Ephedra is a stimulant herb which is found in arid regions of the world. There are 4 different species of the ephedrine plant which might explain the different names for it. Ephedrine acts as a stimulant which can cause the rapid or irregular heartbeat. It dilates the bronchial muscles, contracts nasal mucosa, raises blood pressure, and is a cardiac stimulant. It has amphetamine like effects that is similar to adrenaline. It is less powerful than adrenaline but they last longer than adrenaline. Ephedra is a white odorless powder or crystalline alkaloid which is isolated from the ephedra shrub.
