Rehab Amy Winehouse “Rehab” is a song written and sang by Amy Jade Winehouse and was recorded and appeared on Mark Ronson’s New York radio show on East Village Radio in early 2006. “Wake Up Alone” was also one of her first songs as well as “Pumps”and Back to Black”. Both “Wake up Alone” and “Rehab” were on Amy’s second album. Amy was born on September 14, 1983 and is an English soul, jazz, and R&B singer and songwriter. She was born in Enfield, London, ain a community called Southgate. Her father is a taxi driver and her mother is a pharmacist. She founded an amateur rap group called Sweet-n=Sour which was a small white Jewish Salt-n-Pepa. Amy grew up listening to a wide variety of music. She received her first guitar at the young age of 13 and began singing professionally at the age of 16. She is a two time Ivor Novello Award Winner, once in 2004, and again in 2007.On February 14, 2007 she won a Brit Award as the Best British Female Artist. One of her friends, soul singer Tyler James, gave her demo tape to an A&R person and she was soon discovered. The rest is pretty much history and you can see her ‘hot’ video (as some say) and the lyrics to her songs online. Her current record label is Island/Universal. Some of the lyrics to her “Rehab” song are: They tried to make me go to rehab, I said no, no, no. Yes I been black, but when I come back, You won’t know, know, know. I ain’t got the time, And if my daddy thinks I’m fine, He’s tried to make me go to rehab, I won’t go, go, go. Many singing artists have influenced Amy’s life. Some of them are Elvis Presley, Nas, Mos Def, Teena Marie, Carole King, Beastie Boys, Mahalia Jackson, Busta Rhymes, The Ronettes, Prince, Kiss, madonna, The Shangri-las, The Sherelles, Sarah Vaughan, Minnie Riperton, Dinah Washington, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Tony Bennette, Anouk, The Specials, Toots and the Maytals, and Thelonious Monk. As you can see she had a wide spectrum of influence in her music. There are many people who listen to and enjoy the music of Amy Winehouse. There is always a lot of pressure on young singers and many times they will write their music about their lives and often they are seeking help through their songs. They do not want to admit to having a problem but on the other hand they know they have a problem and they want help, they just do not know how to get it. Often they are screaming for help but don’t know what to do to get it. All Text Copyright © Safety2005.org |
