Rehab Sittin At a Bar

The Atlanta based singing group “Rehab” was formed in the late 1990's.They combined rap with rock and have their own thoughts and feelings in their songs. Even to the point of using foul language in their songs. While some of the music is not hard to listen to, some of the lyrics are not so nice. Their debut album was “Southern Discomfort” and was released in 2000. It had various guest stars included in it. They were Cee-Lo, Goodie Mob, and Cody Chestnut. The album sold over 140 thousand copies. This helped the group kick off a 2 year national tour which included Vans Warped Tour and also bands such as Kottonmouth Kings and Linkin Park.
The members of the group are Danny Boone Alexander (vocals & MC), Mike Hartnett (guitar), Foz (guitar), Hano Leathers (bass), and Chris Hood (drums). Three years ago because of financial and personal problems, the group dissolved. Then in spite of his personal problems, Danny brought together a new version of the band and it has delivered “Graffiti the World”. Danny wants to cover the world with special sounds and this is his way of doing it. With the help of others besides his own band, he put together a list which includes A-list producers/mixers Billy Hume, Ying Yang Twins, David banner, Bonecrusher, Phil Tan. Phil tan has worked with artists such as the Neptunes, Snoop, and Mariah Carey.
Some of the lyrics to the sone “Sittin at a Bar” are:
Bar tender I really did it this time
Broke my parole to have a good time.
When I got home it was 6 a.m..
The door was locked so I kicked it in.
She was trippin’ on the bills
I think she was high on some pills.
She threw my — out into the yard
Called me a bum and smacked me real hard.
And in my drunkin’ stupor
I did what I should of never done
Now I’m sittin’ here talking to you
Drunk and on the run.
Rehab has many other songs and some of them that are on their album “Southern Discomfort” are:
Crazy People, Drinkin’ Problem, Hey Fred, Kick My Ass, It Don’t matter, More Like You, Ms. Jones, Scarecrow, and Thinkin’ Again
Many of the singers today and in the past have sang and wrote songs about their personal problems and their families and experiences, both good and bad. Some of them seem to be calling out for help and they appear to be needing help. Sometimes if we knew them a little better we might be able to help them or get help for them. The songs may be about the singer themselves or they are about someone they knew.
